Whew! What a Summer!

Okay...

This summer has been NUTS! We can barely keep up with the traffic at the store (an excellent problem to have), let alone our two crazy little peanuts at home. We moved from one end of town to the other, and now we're about 100 ft. from the market, which has its merits. It's been a huge adjustment. No matter how certain we are every time we move that the next time we'll be "better" at it, it never fails to completely knock us on our butts for weeks straight.

So here we are, pulling out of it a bit, but still partially packed, and honestly too busy to care about a lot of the details we used to, in favor of trying to transition gracefully to a new home while showing the kids a fun summer.

Socially, we're busy too... When we returned from our Florida trip in June, we attended a weekend of events for the Jackson Hole Wine Auction, which benefits the Grand Teton Music Festival (http://www.jhwineauction.org/). An event that we'd attended twice in Illinois, called Outstanding in the Field (http://outstandinginthefield.com/events/north-american-tour/?dinner_id=243), held a dinner in Jackson last week, and the chef/butcher of our store was the head chef (http://www.lifeinthetetons.com/Jackson-Hole-Magazine/Summer-2012/Whos-Your-Farmer/). We were incredibly proud, and the meal was met with great praise. He's already been asked to do it again next year! And we have Stomping the Divots this coming weekend, which is a fundraiser for the Therapeutic Riding Association of Jackson Hole.

Nina and Poppy came for a visit within days of our move, which not only was helpful, but also a nice distraction from the stress. The time went too quickly, and we miss them so much already!

All the while, Hugh and I have been sick for 2 of the last 4 weeks, Hugh started daycare twice a week, and I've started "really" working at the market. The temperatures in Jackson (like much of the U.S.) have been unusually high, but despite it all, we're trying to enjoy everything we can about this hectic season.

Finally - Happy Birthday to Mike! Poor guy, his birthday was almost overlooked this year, thanks to all the reasons noted above, but we managed to celebrate after all.

Here's some documentation we've been able to muster of the past few weeks... I hope to add some video in days to come, but for now this momma needs to rest.

Hanging out in the backyard...

Nina and Poppy get ready to ride the tram!
Carriage ride in town
We keep harvesting our beautiful greens, and they just keep coming...
Face painting at the art fair
Mike and Frances play in the "tree house" that came with our new rental... It's a 4-year-old's dream come true.
Hugh LOVED the petting zoo at the county fair. Words can't describe it. See below.

Pony rides at the fair
...and snow cones :)
Brandon and Mike, at our birthday celebration dinner last night. Sparklers at the table!
The birthday boy was greeted this morning with blueberry muffins, presents, and the two sweetest faces in Jackson Hole...
We decided to hike today, but got a flat on the way. This wasn't how Mike was supposed to spend his big day.
We finally made it up a mountain, which was frustrating and a lot of fun. Happy 35th birthday to the greatest guy I know!
